One of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving.
The simple definition of Thanksgiving is: “The fourth Thursday of November, observed as a legal holiday in the United States to commemorate the feast held at Plymouth in 1621 by the Pilgrim colonists and members of the Wampanoag people and marked by the giving of thanks to God for harvest and health.
The second Monday of October, celebrated in Canada by the giving of thanks to God for harvest and health.”
My definition is: "A day filled with expressions of gratitude shared with family and friends. Preparing and then indulging in a feast that sends you to the couch for a nap immediately after eating. A day filled with Laughter, making Memories and Prayer. A sincere day of THANKS! "
Retailers seem to start the holiday season at Halloween and jump to Christmas with hardly a mention of Thanksgiving. Is it the forgotten holiday? I hope not. I hope in a sense we celebrate a day of thanks every day. But, I don’t want to loose the traditional day of thanks. For me, my friends and family I hold tight to Thanksgiving.
I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving filled with only good things and good food.
