Movie -O -Holic

The sudden passing of John Hughes on August 6th started me thinking about all of the wonderful teenage angst ridden films he has provided to appreciative movie goers just like me, all over the globe. Being a self proclaimed “movie- o –holic” , complete with a full addiction to “movie theater” popcorn. I have no trouble providing a list of wonderful John Hughes films….

Mr. Mom, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Pretty In Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Some Kind Of Wonderful, She’s Having A Baby, Planes Trains and Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, and the Chevy Chase National Lampoon Vacation’s series, are all amongst my favorite John Hughes films.

One thing I know for sure, aside from the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed all of these films, is the basic underlying theme that runs through most of them. Friendship, love, and joy come from often unlikely blends of people and personalities.
We are all works in progress, we all seek our place in the world, and we often discover our most comfortable fit can be in very unlikely places.

So, it is my true belief that you never know what life will bring your way. It’s best to just be open to new possibilities, friendships, opportunities, and experiences. Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to watch a good movie once in a while either!

Well said. I think there is a huge portion of our generation that has at least one of his movies on their all-time favorite list.
