Kitchen Change Up Part One

Every once in a while I like to change things up around the house. My husband ( Sparky) doesn't understand it, but that's okay. giggle. As long as I stay out of his garage, he is loved and fed, he doesn't care how I decorate. LOL.

Right now I'm focusing on the kitchen. We've had a rust and gold color scheme and a Tuscan kind of feel throughout for quite some time now.  I am leaning towards antique whites and light greens with this change up.
When I'm out and about at the shops I often find things on sale that I like. I just tuck them away until the mood strikes me to make some changes.

 I decided to blog about the change up at the last minute, fun right? I always enjoy reading the blog posts and seeing the photos when you decorate. Let me apologize up front for neglecting to straighten the mat in the before shot. Planning would have prevented that.

I'm breaking the posts up into parts. It seems so much more dramatic and "taa daa" worthy that way.

I started with the top of the fridge. An often unnoticed area.

After: light with a spring time touch.

Little changes can make a big difference.

Did you notice the chopsticks in the planter pots? I reuse everything! The wood rabbit on the right side was carved by Sparky's Grandfather. He made it many years ago as a gift for his Grandmother. She bequeathed it to Sparky when she passed away. I love it! So that's part one, little mini taa daa!

I’ve often read my horoscope over the years; admit it, you read yours too. I always read it at the end of the day and then compare it to the events of the day.  I never really felt I had all of the Scorpio traits. But it is always fun to read.

On Jan 13, 2011 the horoscope world did a star sign swap. The Zodiac apparently made and astronomical shift in the western world. An astronomer at a planetarium in Minnesota brought to light information stating that the star signs did not match up to their zodiac signs. Apparently astrology is not predicted by the movement of the sun in relation to the stars. But, is based on the movement of the sun and planets through the seasons.

So what does this mean you may ask? It is my understanding that your sign is no longer your sign. Instead you are the sign prior to yours on the chart. So I’m no longer a Scorpio, but instead I am a Libra.

My Favorite Season

My favorite season is here! I have been excitedly awaiting crisp mornings, wearing sweaters, colorful leaves, and cool breezes. I love the romance of the season. Yes, romance. Long walks holding hands with my best friend ( husband), my furry mitten in his leather glove, walking along paths carpeted with colorful crunchy leaves. It’s romantic!

I recently read an article that declared that people who prefer Autumn are: Multi Faceted Multi-Taskers. Well that is certainly true, I’m a woman, it’s genetic you know!

Spring lovers are: Diligent Optimists, wait I’m that too!

Summer: Adaptable Extroverts….ummmm that’s me too!

Winter Lovers: Blue’s Proof Nurturers…. Okay…so that’s me too.

Well maybe the article wasn’t that accurate. But, yippee my favorite season is here! What’s your favorite season?

America's Call To Action

Today’s blog entry is a message to America.

We have all taken our social responsibility seriously. We have cast our votes and they have been heard. America has a new leader.

Whatever your political affiliation, it is my hope that you will participate in President Obama’s call to action. Participate in a unified pledge to our countries growth and repair. Share in the positive energy and know that as a country we are all in this together.

Changes

Written September 2007

It's no big news to anyone that life is full of changes. Life can often blindside us with unexpected negative changes. Hitting us hard enough to knock our freckles off! The real challenge is whether we choose to see these changes as obstacles or as opportunities.

It's only human nature to meet negative changes with protest and disbelief. I've yet to meet anyone who screams out; "bring on the bad stuff!". No, no, we fight it! With our metaphorical broad sword in hand we are ready to cut down the source of change. But, change happens, and no matter how miserable we are, or how many, " why me's " are uttered, it happens anyway.

So, stop being so busy fighting the change and questioning it. Remember, sometimes it is through tears that we see the clearest. Maybe it's best to not fight so hard, just accept the things we can't change, and move forward.

Sometimes change is what we need even if we don't know it at the time, positive possibilities are just ahead.........................
